First steps - Creating your travel profile

First of all, you have to tell us where do you want to travel, add the places you wish to visit and write a few words about your plans for each destination. Then make sure that you have completed your travel profile (questionnaire for your travel preferences / options). You can find this questionnaire into "Travel Preferences" menu (on the top left side of your screen) when you are connected to members section. 
As you add all the destinations you want to travel, the app will show you more and more members with common travel choices.


In the list of recommended co-travellers, for each member you will find the destinations that he/she has already visited as long as those he/she wishes to travel in the future.
You may view his/her complete profile by clicking on his "username".
If you like members' profile and wish to go further you may initiate a "friend request". This is the proper way to meet new members within travelhut.gr chat and get to know each other. 

An alternative approach will be to click on "I want to join you" link below a trip in traveller's carousel (on the top of "co-travellers" page).

How to set up my travel profile?

First, you have to signin to travelhut.gr members area and select from the main menu "Co-travellers" or "My trips"
Add all the destinations you have already visited, adding for each destination (any of your trips) your most important experiences and a photo.
Add the destinations you want to visit and do not forget to add a sort description for your travel plans.
Finally make sure that you have answered the travel questionnaire.

How can I find a co-traveller ?

Travelhut.gr follows a matching process between its members based on their travel preferences. We are trying to match members based on the destinations they wish to travel, based on their travel preferences as long as the distance between choices and list them in the list of results as suggested co-travellers. As easily can be understood, the more destinations you have registered as future trips, the more results this list will have.  

In the list of recommended members, you can:

  • By clicking on the member's nickname, you will be redirected to his/her personal page, where you may view his/her travel profile. In this page you will be able to view all the destinations he/she has already visited as well as those he/she is planning to visit. Below each destination (trip) is available the option "... I want to join you!". By click on it, a personal message is sent to the member with your proposal to co-travel to that destination. 
  • To send him / her a friend request, by pressing the "FRIEND REQUEST" button. If the member accepts your request then the button you initially clicked turns into "CHAT". When you click on it you will be redirected to the "Live Chat" page where you can chat.


Can I preview how my profile appears to other members of travelhut.gr ?

Visit "My trips" section to preview how your profile appears to other travelhut.gr members. To this page you may find tips to improve your ranking and get more previews and requests.

I accepted a friend request, how can I meet my new friend ?

All of your friends appear in friends list in "Live chat" section. So you can send them messages or talk to them live (when they are online). Additionally of you are in to the "Co-travellers" section you may distinguish your friends from other members by the "CHAT" button on the right of each profile listing.

How can I chat with other members ?

You may chat with others from "Live chat" section. There are two options for you:
1. Chat with your friends. 
2. Chat with other online members.

Your friends are listed on the right side of the desktop page (on mobile looks a bit different)
Basic chat functions are as follows:

  • if one of your friends is online (green indicator), you can chat with him/her direclty
  • If is offline then you can send him/her messages and he/she will read them as soon as he/she connects into travlehut.gr
  • If you receive any messages while you were disconnected then a notification message will be displayed (red circle with the number of messages)

Send a gift

You can make a travelpoints gift to another member and give him/her some of your travelpoints. You can also ask from someone else to donate you. How? By selecting the gift icon from the toolbar (below the chatbox).

SupportFor technical reasons you may send a message to admin (selecting tool icon) and reporting your issue.

Travelpoints: What are they and how can be used ?

To be able to make travel or friend requests to other travelhut.gr members, you need to have Travelpoints. Whenever you make a request to another member, two of your points is being captured. Whenever you make a travel request to another member, one of your points are being captured. If your request is answered (positive or negative) then that point is subtracted from your total points.
In any case you decide - for any reason - to cancel your (pending) request this point will be released and added back to your Travelpoints. As it can easily be understood, answered requests can not be cancelled.
You can always purchase new points from our application.

Notice
When a member delete his/her profile or cancels a trip, your points for these requests (if any) will not be returned back to you.

Each time your points are lower than 10, a red line appears on top (desktop) or bottom (mobile) of the member section pages with an informative message and a link to purchase popup window.

I am running out of Travelpoints. What can I do ?

You can renew your points, by purchasing one of the available travelpoints packages. This can be done by clicking on the top right of your screen in the "Settings" menu and then on "Purchase".

All travelpoint packages are limited for a period of use. After this period they will expire (the unused points will be reset). Users may be informed for the valid period of their travelpoint packages from their profile. 

How will I be notified about unreaded messages and unseen requests when I am offline?

We will send you an info mail whenever there are unreaded messages or requests. But you need to make sure that you are receiving our mails into your inbox.

Personal messages, how do they work?

"Personal messages" is your mail at travelhut.gr and they work as follows:
For each new friend request you receive, the application automatically will send you a message.
For each travel request or friend request you make to another member, the application will inform you as soon as the other member replies to this request.
When one of your trips starting date has elapsed, you will find an expiration notice for that trip. If this trip has been completed then you should select the "Completed" option bellow your message and this trip will automatically be added to the "I have visited" list of trips. If has been cancelled that select "cancelled" to let us know that we must stop showing it to our members. Finally if you still want to visit this destination you can just modify the trip date.
